Trace is for Competitors​​​

​Trace is for tracking your activity, gathering analytics, keeping safe and sharing with friends and family. It supports live tracking of all competitors across most watersport activities.

Buoy Zone is for Race Management

Buoy Zone is the worlds most popular race management systems, used in over 75 countries.  Buoy Zone is the source of all course and race management related information.

How it works

A Race Officer creates  a standard course in Buoy Zone

  • Optionally the RO can add all the fleet names for your course (eg Gold, Silver)

​​A competitor starts a Trace​ in the Trace app

  • When starting a Trace they select "Join Course", choose their course and select their fleet, if the race officer has set any.

  • Add your sail or bib number

  • Start recording your Trace, go out on the water, keeping your mobile with you.

​​The race committee can see all linked Traces in the Buoy Zone App

  • List all competitors per fleet fleets and see their distance to you or any mark on the course, useful for the finish boat to see the order of boats as they approach the finish line, or the RO from the start line looking to get another race underway.

  • View all competitors on a map, filtered by fleet​​​​​​​​

​​​Trace users can see the course marks on their Trace

  • When competitors, spectators and coaches view their traces (live or post racing) they can see all the Marks from the course including all course updates.

  • Spectators can view racing in real-time, on the app or via a browser.​​​​
